Joint Venture
The "Hesketh 4x4" is an opportunity born out of the relatively recent market for multi-blade razors. The major players have created this market but their weakness is an adherence to a design format that is just based on numbers of blades. It is inevitable that this concept is self limiting, you cannot keep adding more and more blades. To break into this market you must have a new design that is fundamentally different. Other companies have tried to introduce "New" designs and failed because essentially they are all "Me too", the only existing ones are either very small outfits with limited market impact or those packages branded for the main retailers. To succeed with a premium razor in this market it must be consumer pulled, it has to "Give them what they want" and yes, the consumer means us. The "Hesketh 4x4" main clients will of necessity be the main retailers, but they cannot ignore customer demand, irrespective of the higher returns that will inevitably be offered to them from the major players. The "Hesketh4x4" web site is just one of the ways in which the message will get across. To get the business started at least 12 months is required to invest in tooling, assembly equipment, sourcing suppliers and all the normal slog of getting a company up and running. Because the "Hesketh 4x4" cartridge is just an adaptation of existing methods of containing razor blades there is little development risk. Mark is looking to link in with a business currently making volume product, perhaps in Personal Care, with the skills in place to adopt the "Hesketh 4x4". This would be a new business company for which Mark is looking to sell a 45% holding in the venture. This investment would be used to carry out all the activities required to get the "Hesketh 4x4" manufactured.
